Please join IWL as we partner with the International Rescue Committee to host a resume-building workshop for students participating in the St. Alphonsus Environmental Services Technician Pre-apprenticeship program. The IRC provides opportunities for refugees, asylees, victims of human trafficking, survivors of torture, and immigrants seeking citizenship to thrive in America. Here in Boise, the IRC helps refugees remake their lives by providing opportunities to build job, computer, and financial literacy skills. The IRC has collaborated with St. Alphonsus to provide a free pre-apprenticeship program beginning on September 4 and running through November 15 for students working to gain English speaking and listening skills and provide training for environmental services technician jobs.

IWL volunteers will collaborate with students, ages 18-25, to improve/build their resumes for future employment opportunities. St. Al’s has a mobile computer lab which will allow an IWL volunteer to pair directly with a student.

The IRC is looking for approximately 15-20 IWL volunteers to work with each student—to sign up for this event, please email Abby Kostecka directly at abbykostecka@gmail.com. Volunteers will be accepted on a first come, first served basis and an email will be sent when no additional volunteers are needed.
