Idaho Women Lawyers is thrilled to present Louie Robertson Consulting’s Constructive Conversations™ Workshop (ISB CLE credit pending), on Friday May 10th from 1-4 pm at Concordia University School of Law (room 221). The workshop cost is covered by IWL and is open to the first 30 members who register online via Wild Apricot.

    Constructive Conversations™

Managing conflict or providing difficult feedback can be hard for many of us. Perhaps you worry how the other person will feel, so you deliver an unclear message or avoid the conversation altogether; or perhaps you tend to be more direct, so you deliver a blunt message and the information is not well-received. Regardless, Constructive Conversations™ provides a better way to resolve conflicts, communicate with impact, and strengthen relationships.

In this interactive session, you’ll learn a practical, repeatable framework to engage in these challenging but important conversations with confidence and effectiveness in every part of your professional and personal life. Whether you’re a supervisor giving performance feedback to an employee or talking with a co-worker or partner about something difficult, you owe it to yourself - and the other person - to speak the truth with clarity and in a way that doesn’t damage the relationship.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is hosting an interview practice for students participating in the Saint Alphonsus Environmental Services Technician Pre-apprenticeship program. The IRC provides opportunities for refugees, asylees, victims of human trafficking, survivors of torture, and immigrants seeking citizenship to thrive in America. Here in Boise, the IRC helps refugees remake their lives by providing opportunities to build job, computer, and financial literacy skills. The IRC collaborates with Saint Alphonsus to provide a free pre-apprenticeship program for students working to gain English speaking and listening skills and provide training for environmental services technician jobs.

The IRC is seeking volunteers to pair with students, ages 18-25, and conduct practice interviews. There are 15 students currently in the program so 15-20 volunteers would be ideal. If you are interested, please email Abby Kostecka directly at abbykostecka@gmail.com. Volunteers will be accepted on a first come, first served basis and an email will be sent if/once 15-20 responses have been received and no additional volunteers are needed.

For more information on the IRC, how to make a donation, and how the IRC is currently serving refugees in the Boise community, visit https://www.rescue.org/united-states/boise-id#how-does-the-irc-help-refugees-in-boise
