Please join IWL’s Community Service Committee for two events sponsoring the Ronald McDonald House!
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho support families of ill or injured children by keeping them together in times of medical need. RMHC has a 47-room house which services families with seriously ill or injured children being treated locally here in Boise. In addition to providing rooms for families, RMHC ensures families are well-fed by serving meals, snacks and other supplies and tries to provide a sense of comfort and normalcy for families going through a difficult and stressful time.
RMHC supplies ~75 lunches and bags of snacks per week to families being treated at St. Luke’s Hospital. In addition to being filled with delicious snacks and food, volunteers decorate the bags with jokes, artwork, or encouraging messages to brighten the days and uplift the spirits of those being served. Volunteers also cook and prepare lunches, dinners, and baked goods to serve at the house, located at 139 E. Warm Springs Avenue, and also clean and help out around the house.
The Community Service Committee has two opportunities for our membership:
1. Join us for a happy hour event on September 1st from 4-6pm at the State Bar, located at 525 W Jefferson Street. To sign up for this volunteer shift please visit: https://idahowomenlawyers.wildapricot.org/event-4919980
We will provide snacks and drinks while volunteers decorate gift bags to donate to RMH for their use as lunch and snack bags.
2. Join us for a volunteer shift on September 24th from 1-3pm at RMH at 139 E Warm Springs. To sign up for this volunteer shift please visit: https://idahowomenlawyers.wildapricot.org/event-4926339
Volunteers will sign up for a two-hour shift to either clean or prepare food at the House. Food is made on-sight using ingredients from the pantry. The cleaning shift can accommodate 10-12 volunteers while the food-making opportunity accommodates a maximum of 4 volunteers.
*Please note, masks are required, and volunteers must fill out an application and complete a short training when they arrive at the facility.
