Also, did you know...

That making a written career plan is an important and easy tool to advance your career?

“Here is the secret to doing a career plan this week: take five minutes to write three lines on a piece of paper: my long-term career goal, how I want to improve my skills/experiences to advance toward the long-term goal in the next year, and how I want to improve in the next three years.”

(Canter, Rachelle J., Women Lawyers: Forget Your Job and Focus on Your Career, March 14, 2016, at http://www.lawpracticetoday.org/article/women-lawyers-forget-your-job-and-focus-on-your-career/.)

Simply outworking the male competition is not an effective career strategy. Instead, spend five minutes this week planning your career and then take a look at the following opportunities:

Did you know...

The political races and debates are at the forefront of world news. However, women still hold a minority of the elected positions in the United States.

According to the Center for American Women and Politics, as of 2016, women hold the following percentage of elected positions in the United States:

4% of 535 seats in Congress

20% of 100 seats in the U.S. Senate

3% of 435 seats in the U.S. House

24% of 312 Statewide Executive seats (includes governors, lt. governors and other statewide elected officials)

6% of 7383 seats in State Legislatures

Idaho has had two (2) women elected to Congress in its history, and currently has 29 women elected to the State Legislature for a total of 27.6% of 105 seats.

LET’S GET MORE WOMEN INVOLVED

A new organization has been formed in Idaho to help women gain training for leadership roles in politics. Idaho Women in Leadership has a Political Leadership Training series and a Business & Corporate Leadership Training series.

Click on the link below for more information about these training opportunities:
