The political races and debates are at the forefront of world news. However, women still hold a minority of the elected positions in the United States.

According to the Center for American Women and Politics, as of 2016, women hold the following percentage of elected positions in the United States:

  • 4% of 535 seats in Congress
  • 20% of 100 seats in the U.S. Senate

  • 24% of 312 Statewide Executive seats (includes governors, lt. governors and other statewide elected officials)
  • 6% of 7383 seats in State Legislatures

Idaho has had two (2) women elected to Congress in its history, and currently has 29 women elected to the State Legislature for a total of 27.6% of 105 seats.
